SSL Service Decommissioning FAQ

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about the planned decommissioning of our older SSL Service in RWI2 and the TPP API. If you have additional questions not answered here, you can always contact our support staff, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are you shutting down?

OpenSRS is decommissioning only the older RWI2-based SSL certificate service. As part of this work, all existing SSL orders will be migrated from the RWI2 interface to the new Trust Manager that is part of the OpenSRS Control Panel. The older TPP API for SSL certificates will be decommissioned and will no longer be available for use by resellers.

How can I tell which API I use?

If you have an API integration using the TPP API (Tulips), and you manage those products in the RWI2, then you are using the older API. If you have a recent integration for SSL using the OpenSRS API and manage SSL products in the Control Panel Trust Manager, then you are using the new API.

Does this affect Managed DNS?

No. there is no impact on Managed DNS. Resellers using RWI2 and/or the TPP API for Managed DNS can continue to do so after the migration.

When is this scheduled to take place?

The migration of existing SSL certificate orders on the RWI2 to the Trust Manager will happen at the same time as the decommissioning. Decommissioning of the RWI2 SSL certificates interface and the TPP API will also happen at that time.

Does this affect me?

That depends:

  • If you have no SSL certificate products under management, then no, it doesn't affect you at all.
  • If you have SSL certificates under management, but only use the new Trust Manager in the OpenSRS Control Panel, then there is no impact for you.
  • If you have SSL certificates under management and you use the SSL ordering and management system in the RWI2, then those SSL orders and products will be automatically migrated to the new Trust Manager.
  • If you have SSL certificates under management and you use the SSL ordering and management system in the RWI2 and you also have an API integration for SSL that uses the older TPP API, then you need to move your integration to the newer OpenSRS API prior to the migration.

Will this impact my SSL customers? Do I need to reissue certificates?

No. We're simply moving the management of the certificate orders to the Trust Manager. The impact on your customers will be nothing - no reissues are required, and the same products (and more brands) are available in the Trust Manager.

Can you help me out with the switch to the new API?

Of course! Call support and we can help you with getting things switched over. Of course, we can't do the integration for you, but we can provide OpenSRS API documentation and help to get you going.

Can you migrate my SSL orders to the Trust Manager now?

Unfortunately, no. The migration needs to be performed as a bulk move of all certificates at the same time, across our Reseller base. You may start issuing new certificates using the Trust Manager and as certificates expire manage your own transition to the new platform.
