Spam and Virus Filtering
Over the past few years, the threat to email systems in the form of spam, viruses and phishing attacks has increased dramatically. The volume of spam email is immense — as much as 90% of all email, according to some estimates.
Controlling spam and doing it well is something that users have come to expect. We've brought together some of the best names in the business, combined with our own dedicated abuse team, to offer effective anti-spam and anti-virus protection inside OpenSRS Email Service. As you would expect, complete anti-spam and anti-virus filtering is included standard with every mailbox.
Additionally, resellers who wish to continue managing and operating their own email infrastructure can choose to provision users on the OpenSRS Email Service as "filtering only" accounts. This option provides the same high quality anti-spam filtering our fully-hosted mailboxes use, but without the associated storage and access. After filtering, email is directed to the reseller's own email servers for delivery. Users are provided with a web-based spam quarantine where they can review and manage spam, including safe and blocked sender lists.

OpenSRS Email Service Architecture
The OpenSRS Email Service platform is high performance. But what gives it the edge? Three basic premises guided us as we designed and built it.
- Reliability: Going down or losing email is not an option. We used server virtualization technology to build in reliability and ease of maintenance. The service is housed only in Tier IV data centers to ensure the most reliable connection to the Internet possible. We also have extensive, real-time, 24/7 status monitoring both at the data center and in our own Network Operations Centre (NOC).
- Scalability: Our service has to be able to grow. Each data center can scale to tens of millions of mailboxes with all the associated storage and email scanning required.
- Performance: It needs to be fast. OpenSRS Email Service is extremely high performance and built for speed in every way. From multiple gigabit Ethernet connections, to powerful virtualized servers, to the latest in load balancers, it's built to get the job done with speed and efficiency.
Servers & Services
Our email service runs on virtual servers. This allows for ease of management in upgrading the environment's components, and in adding additional capacity. Outages are minimized even in the case of unexpected hardware failures. In the case of planned hardware downtime, the virtual servers can usually be transparently relocated to different physical hardware with no service interruption.
Network
Our email service has access to multiple backbone networks with continuous monitoring.
