Introducing VeriSign Partner Grab and Go – Easy SSL Marketing

We’re really pleased to be the first wholesale registrar to offer the VeriSign Partner Progam’s Grab and Go SSL marketing content to our reseller base. Grab and Go is a great new service that makes it easy for you to build and maintain your SSL and trust marketing webpages.

There’s a variety of content modules to choose from – including VeriSign, GeoTrust and thawte product brands. Based on iframes, it’s easy to use: look at the modules you want, and cut and paste the code to your desired template page. The iframe content is dynamically served (or populated), so it’s always kept up-to-date on your site without any action required on your part. It’s a great way to make sure that you always have the “latest and greatest” marketing materials on your site to sell more SSL.

Get Started Today!

Get started with VeriSign Partner Grab and Go, provided by OpenSRS, by visiting the Grab and Go website. You’ll learn more about how the content modules work, and how to get them installed in your own site so you can either maximize your existing SSL and trust sales, or get started with selling SSL.

See it in Person at Parallels Summit 2011

Both OpenSRS and VeriSign Partner Program people will be there at the show. We can demonstrate how Grab and Go works, and talk to you about the opportunities available for selling SSL and trust products to your customers.

How to Retain Customers and Reduce Churn

It’s really easy to think of a domain transferred away from your reseller account to another registrar as just that – a domain. But every domain is attached to a customer, and those customers often take more than their domain when they leave for a competing registrar.

OpenSRS provides a few tools to keep you informed as to when your customers are moving their domains (and by extension, their hosting or other services). Armed with that information, you can take action when a transfer away is initiated to try to hold on to that domain and customer.

We put together a tutorial that will help you:

  • make sure you KNOW when someone requests a domain transfer away
  • ensure that you HAVE A PLAN to address customers who are transferring domains away
  • ACT on domain transfers to retain some of those customers

Contact Privacy Video Now Available for Download

Internet privacy is a big deal these days. Privacy breaches at various sites have exposed sensitive data like home addresses, phone numbers and email and more.

But for domain name owners, there’s another easily preventable privacy pitfall out there that could cause just as much headache as a major social networking site leaking their personal data.

There are thousands of home-based businesses launched every year where the owner fails to enable the Contact Privacy feature of his or her domain name, resulting in the publishing of their home address, phone number and email address the domain’s publicly searching WHOIS record.

There’s even a chance these businesses could be your customers.

It’s been our experience that Contact Privacy is not enabled because domain owners don’t realize that WHOIS records contain their personal information and viewable by the entire Internet.

Have you talked with your customers about Contact Privacy?

At OpenSRS, we know you’re busy with other things. Heck, domain names might even be the least of your worries. So we thought we’d make things easy on you and over the past few weeks, we put some effort into developing white label video, along with a one pager describing Contact Privacy.

They’re ready to use ‘right out of the box’, but if you’d like to brand them, or otherwise customize, tweak, and tailor to your business, you’re welcome to do that too!

To download or preview these resources now, visit our Contact Privacy page in the Marketing Resources section of the OpenSRS website.

CIRA Contest Looking for .CA Websites Making a Difference

A few OpenSRSers are at the meshmarketing event held right here in our hometown of Toronto. One of the presenters is the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) who are the keepers of the .CA domain extension.

Over the past few years, CIRA has doing a ton of work to promote the .CA extension and to show Canadians how people are using their .CA websites.

CIRA .CA Impact Awards

As part of those ongoing efforts, today CIRA announced a new initiative. Starting on January 6, 2011, CIRA will begin accepting submissions for the .CA Impact Awards.

CIRA says they created the .CA Impact Awards as “a celebration of people and organizations that use their .CA website to make a difference.”

Prizes include a cheque for $5,000 for the winner. If you are selling .CA domains through OpenSRS, this is definitely something you will want to pass along to your customers. Who knows, maybe one of them will be the winner!

You can find out more at the CIRA .CA Impact Awards website.
